FRAN ORALLO
(Espanha - Spain)
FRAN ORALLO (Badajoz, Spain, 1979) lives and develops his artistic practice in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and New Media Art at City of Glasgow College (Scotland). His work is structured around audio-visual experimentation, particularly at the intersections between video and digital animation.
His artistic research examines the relationship between reality, simulation, and digital representation, focusing on the emergence of a hybrid visual imaginary. His practice questions the conventional boundaries between the real and the simulated, encouraging a critical reflection on how images influence contemporary perception. By exploring the materiality, meaning, and construction of digital images, his work considers how technology reshapes established forms of visual communication. Digital practices provide new possibilities for developing alternative visual narratives, allowing images to move beyond traditional modes of representation. Ultimately, his research investigates how technological developments transform our understanding of reality, perception, and the role of images in contemporary culture.
Fran Orallo has exhibited his work in Spain and internationally, participating in biennials, group exhibitions, and festivals in more than 50 countries. His work has been shown in both public and private institutions such as IVAM (Valencia, Spain), Vostell Malpartida Museum (Cáceres, Spain), MAC—Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago de Chile (Chile), La Neomudéjar (Madrid, Spain), Centro del Carmen (Valencia, Spain), Ex Teresa Arte Actual (Mexico City, Mexico); in biennials such as the Venice Biennale (Venice, Italy) and The Wrong Biennale (Copenhagen, Denmark); and in fairs and festivals such as RAW—Roma Art Week (Rome, Italy), arteBA '10 (Buenos Aires, Argentina), FILE (Brazil), Madatac (Madrid, Spain), PROJECTOR (Madrid, Spain), IN-SONORA (Madrid, Spain), PUNTO Y RAYA (Itinerant) and FIVA (Argentina), among others.

Synopsis
VARIATIONS consists of an experimental abstract animation, divided into a series of sequences of approximately 30 seconds each, made by creative coding software. The animation is made by basic shapes such as ellipses and rectangles that form different patterns on the screen. All of them together form a visual composition minimalistic and poetic. Each composition uses the same color pattern, gray for the background and yellow for the shapes, making them regular and symmetrical.
