ÁNGEL GARCÍA ROLDÁN obtained a Diploma in Education Sciences in 1996 and a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 2001 from the University of Granada. In 2007, he studied Film and Television at the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Baños, Havana, Cuba, on a scholarship from the Córdoba City Council sponsored by Premios Ángel de Pintura, where he obtained the Córdoba Artes Nobles Scholarship in 2006. He subsequently studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Granada. In 2012, he obtained a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, where he has been teaching since 2009.
In recent years, he has directed a large number of audiovisual projects for scientific and cultural dissemination for this academic institution, including the documentaries: 'University of Granada: The Imperial Project' (2021); 'Applause During the Pandemic' (2020); "Altiplano. History of a Landscape' (2018) and 'The Third Hill" (2017), as well as other audiovisual collections such as the Audiovisual Collection of Heritage Buildings of the University of Granada (2016-19) and the collection of reports on the exhibitions of the Madraza Centre for Contemporary Culture (2016-2019).
In 2017, he presented his first experimental feature film entitled "Tote Hasen, el viento de Ulises" (www.totehasen.es), which was screened at venues including the Filmoteca de Andalucia in Córdoba and the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia in Granada. Noteworthy are the numerous solo and group exhibitions of his work held since 1999 in galleries and institutional venues both nationally and abroad. Also relevant are the awards and honours he has received throughout his career.
Since 2005, he has been intensely involved in curating international video projects such as: The International Video Art Cycle as part of the PHOTOEspaña'24 programme at the official headquarters of MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artístico (2024), the International Video Narration Exhibition A/R/Tográfica (2013-24), the International Overseas Video Cycle(2014-21) and Proyecto Circo Cuba in Havana (2010-11), among others, through organisations and institutions such as the University of Granada, MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artístico, the ARTSUR Contemporary Art Festival, ARCHIDONA CINEMA Andalusian and Mediterranean Film Festival, and Vera Icono Producciones, an organisation he has directed since 2009.
